First Night Akron 15 Year Photo Contest
First Night Akron is celebrating its 15th Year with a variety of special 15 Year events and themes. You can be a part of the 15 Year Celebration by entering the 15 Year Photo Contest. Get creative with the number “15” and submit your photos that represent “15” in a unique way! Photo ideas include interesting places that you find “15” appears naturally or 15 objects manipulated to fit in to the photo. The sky is the limit for photo composition!
Submission Information
The submission period will open on Saturday, October 2, at the October Artwalk in Downtown Akron and will continue through Wednesday, November 24. Photos can be submitted at the following locations during certain dates and times:

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. This contest is open to anyone of any age who wishes to participate.
The photo subject must be relevant to the theme of “15” (15 people, the number 15 on a building, etc. Be creative!) Photos may not be altered in any kind of photo editing software other than for post-processing. Entries may be 35mm prints or prints from digital images. Please read the specific guidelines for submitting prints.
Number of Entries
Each person may submit up to 2 entries in the First Night Akron 15 Year Photo Contest.
Return of Photos
Photos, regardless of the medium, will not be returned. Please do not submit your only copy of a photo.
Ownership/Use Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. Photos will be credited to the photographer named in the entry form. Entries (including non-winning entries) may be selected for display or use on the First Night Akron website, with permission from the photographer.
Judging
Judging will take place during the Saturday, December 4, 2010 Artwalk at Summit Artspace. Visitors to the Artwalk will vote to determine the winners of the 15 Year Photo Contest. Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality and adherence to the “15” theme.
Winners
Winners will be announced at First Night Akron 2011 on Friday, December 31, 2010 and will be notified by phone and email using the information provided on the entry form. All photos will be displayed at Akron Art Museum during First Night Akron 2011 on Friday, December 31, 2010.
HOW TO ENTER
Submitting Photos
Photos must be printed in an 8 x 10 inch format and single matted on a white or black matte that is no larger than 11 x 14 inches. The entry form (below) MUST be attached to the back of each print, along with your name and address.
If you would also like your photos posted on www.firstnightakron.org to entice people to come to the December Artwalk to vote, please also submit your photos and entry form information by email to [email protected].
**Please note: You MUST submit your photos in the printed and matted format for your images to be included in the 15 Year Photo Contest. Digital images will be used for display on www.firstnightakron.org only, not for voting purposes.

Image Modifications
Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified.
Permitted Modifications:
- Images may be cropped and rotated as necessary as long as the rectangular format is maintained and the size is within the specifications above.
- Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained
- Red-eye removal and spot editing
- One-step enhancement (such as "AutoFix", "QuickFix", "Auto Levels", etc.)
- Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, despeckle or remove noise.
- Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance and tint.
