First Night Akron / Welcome 2027

A good night starts with access.

Questions to ask before choosing activities, traveling or booking admission.

The returning edition’s venues and access arrangements have not yet been announced. We cannot promise step-free access, reserved seating, interpretation, quiet spaces or accessible transport before those details are confirmed.

Ask about the whole journey

Check how you will arrive, enter the venue, move within it, use the restroom and leave. An accessible entrance may be different from the main entrance. A map from an earlier festival cannot establish the current route.

  • Is the route from drop-off or transit to the entrance step-free?
  • Are there steps, slopes, narrow doors or lifts along the route?
  • What seating is available, and can a companion sit nearby?
  • Where is the accessible restroom?
  • How far is the next activity, and is there somewhere to rest?

Sound, lighting and crowds

Ask about amplified sound, flashing or moving lighting, crowd density, entry queues and whether leaving and returning is possible. If your group needs a quiet break or an early finish, build that into the plan rather than relying on a late-night finale.

Using this website

The site uses semantic headings, keyboard-operated controls, visible focus states and text alternatives for photographs. The archive is a special case: some original PDFs are scans and may not contain a useful text layer. Restored HTML pages provide another route to parts of the historical record, but are not a full accessible transcription of every PDF.

You can use the preparation checklist without creating an account. Reduced-motion preferences are respected. No claim of a complete independent accessibility audit is made.
