One Great Night for One Great Price at First Night® Akron 2009

Akron, Ohio - At the low cost of 11 cents per performer it would be hard to find a better deal than the $10 admission to First Night Akron. And...for kids under 10, it's all free! Celebrants will experience a broad range of diverse entertainment in warm, indoor venues. Interactive crafts make sure no one goes home empty handed. First Night buttons remain $10 - a great value for anyone looking for low cost ways to celebrate with family and friends during these tough economic times.
There is no better way to bring in the New Year than by creating lasting family memories in this community celebration.

First Night families come in all shapes and sizes, both traditional and nontraditional, and include relatives, friends, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else who comes along. Admission buttons give revelers entrance to 18 different venues and allows them the chance to experience 93 different
artists performing music, theater, dance, interactive and visual art. Take home a family photo, a mask, a jump drive with your own personal video and more. Enjoy dancing with the O'Hare
Irish Dancers, playing music with Silent Lion, painting with Especially Art! Studios and decorating the Community Garden. Enjoy First Night favorites, Colin Dussault's Blues Project, The Average White Broads and Hard Days Night, as well as new, first time artists. Ride a Metro bus or a trolley around the footprint - staying warm and getting to all your favorite acts quickly.

Kids under 10, who are admitted free with a button-wearing adult, will have the chance to make their own crafts to take home as well as join in the Light and Beats in the Streets procession to the Mainstage; all at no extra cost. Finish your night once (or twice) with incredible FirstMerit Fireworks displays at 9 p.m. and again at midnight.
