Deadline for Artist and Performer Applications for First Night Akron 2014 is July 26
Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) is seeking regional artists to participate in First Night Akron 2014 on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013. Artist proposals for this family friendly and alcohol-free event may include, but are not limited to: music, dance, theater, puppetry, film, visual art/ installation art, interactive/participatory activities, strolling entertainers, literary/storytelling/poetry activities and make and take activities. more >  

STEM School Learners Light Up the Night at First Night® Akron 2013
Downtown Akron Partnership (DAP) has partnered with Time Warner Cable, a past First Night button artist, and twelve learners from the National Inventors Hall of Fame STEM School to create sculptural, solar-powered luminaries to add interest and illumination to events in Downtown Akron. The fifteen sculptures will make their debut at First Night Akron 2013 in front of the John S. Knight Center, a favorite venue sponsored by Time Warner Cable. more >  

More volunteers are needed for First Night Akron 2013
First Night Akron needs volunteers to lend a helping hand on Monday, Dec 31, 2012. Volunteers are a critical part of this New Year’s Eve celebration showcasing the arts to the community. First Night volunteers greet guests, check for admission buttons, introduce performing artists, assist with hands-on activities, track attendance and act as bus hosts. more >
